Is Algebra II required to graduate high school?
I graduated last year and I had completed several levels of math, Algebra II included. My mom is in denial about my 14 year old brother, saying “he doesn’t need math to graduate” (he’s in a charter school program, similar to homeschool but has a curriculum and requirements), she hasn’t been teaching him math and says that I took Algebra II as an elective, not as a requirement. If that’s the case she lied to me when she told me I HAD to take Algebra II to graduate, as I remember it, it was a requirement.
Well in my state you have to take four required maths. Either you take Algebra I in 8th grade and start with Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calc, and Calculus in high school. Or if you just took 8th grade math you take Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calc. I think Statistics could be used to replace Pre-Calc in the second example.
